   Para-aramid also known as poly-(paraphenylene terephthalamide) (PPTA) is a highly durable synthetic fiber that exhibits exceptional strength and flame retardant properties.
 

  • High Tensile Strength : High strength, high modulus and tenacity make it suitable for the ballistic application.  On a weight-for-weight basis, it is 5 times as strong as steel, 10 times as strong as aluminum.  
  • Corrosion Resistant : It exhibits excellent acid and alkali resistance except for few exceptions.
  • Low Heat Conductivity : It makes it suitable for it's application in the electrical sector.
  • High Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI) : Its LOI is 29% or higher which helps in making "fireproof fabrics".
  • Excellent Temperature Stability : The fiber showcases phenomenal stability for prolonged periods in extreme temperatures ranging from -196 degree Celsius to 427 degree Celsius. 
  • Sensitivity to UV Rays : It is sensitive to prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays.
  • Low Elongation at Break : It's high modulus (stiffness) make the products rigid. As a result, they break after a very small amount of stretching.
